“CIFVF VIDEO LIBRARY”Being About to Come into Use

Every film festival-goers of past CIFVF might feel sorry they couldn’t watch all the films on their wish list. They maybe ceased by schedule conflicts between their own and festival arrangement，etc. And considering this kind of sorrow, this year we start a totally new program---CIFVF VIDEO LIBRARY.

Note: Due to the construction of building new train station in the city of Shi Jiazhuang, the southwest university district is going to have a power outage. The outage schedule would be from noon to midnight every day from June 9th to the 13th.
Therefore, the screening schedule gets delayed and pushed back. The tour screening is still on going… The following screening table is the old schedule.

In the beginning of each screening, I would briefly introduce CIFVF, the films in the show and the filmmakers. Following the screening, a discussion would be open to the audiences. It usually lasted for about one hour or so; sometimes it would be late till 11:00pm; then people started realizing that they need to catch the metro since some came from a long way. I would like to share some of the feedbacks from the audiences with you here and we also got some on tapes. Once the clips got organized and become available; they will be posted on line.

After the tour screening traveling through Zhejiang, Shandong, and Hei Longjiang, CIFVF tour screening, arrives in Fu Zhou and Quan Zhou, in Fujian province.
From early May through the end of July, for a period of three months, it has been a special tour screening.

Frankly speaking, it is a rather tough process to programming works for the “indie-animation” section. To begin with, here lies a question as how to define ‘indie-animation?’ On one hand, as an animation director, I don’t see a definite answer to it; on the other hand, as programmer, I believe I should approach this question with sensible concepts.

Editor’s note: Through the introduction of CIFVF, Jeonju International Film Festival, the 2nd biggest film festival in Korea, decided to invite the film, “Classmates”, directed by Lin Xin (the closing film at CIFVF in 2009) to be part of the CINEMASCAPE in JIFF. Lin Xin accepted the invitation.

“Chinese Independent Film 1+1 Festival” was held in Ox Warehouse of the Old Ladies’ House Art Space in Macau, on four weekend in between 19th December 2009 and 16th January 2010, During the festival, there are in total eleven features and one short were screened, among which films associated with CIFVF are “Oxhide”, “Aoluguya, Aoluguya”, “Disorder”, “The Search” as well as “Good Cats” and “Condolences”- both are directed by Ying Liang, the CIFVF programmer.

After a series of intense preparation and organization, “Chongqing Independent Film &Video Festival’s Shandong Art Academy Tour screening,” is finally opening on the 21st of Dec. Ha, Ha…Ha…It is very exciting here. The venue – Shandong Art Academy – my alumni, provides excellent facilities and location for screenings.
